“Therapy is not about having someone take control of your life or “feeling good,” therapy is about learning to take control of your life and making changes. ”
This Spring I have an Intern!
This is very exciting to help the mental health field grow. She will be observing sessions and able to take on clients of her own at a discounted rate due to her student status, as I will be supervising her. Please inquire about setting up a session with Patrycja.
About Patrycja
Patrycja is joining Renew MHC as a practicum student as she completes her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Rochester. Patrycja has a strong passion for working with adolescents and adults, and in creating a supportive, welcoming space where individuals feel safe, understood, and empowered.
She currently utilizes a person-centered counseling style, meaning she focuses on building a supportive, nonjudgmental relationship where individuals feel heard and respected. She integrates cognitive-behavioral and emotion-focused strategies to help individuals explore the “why” behind emotional and behavioral patterns, while also developing practical tools for coping, communication, and emotional regulation. She believes that understanding where feelings and behaviors come from and how they are affecting the present is just as important as learning ways to cope with them.
Patrycja brings several years of combined experience across a college mental health setting, eating disorder residential treatment, and play therapy training. She views therapy as a collaborative and respectful partnership where authenticity, safety, and steady growth are central to the counseling process.
RENEW: to begin again; to make new or as if new again; make strong
Life is a journey, one that has hills and valleys, seasons of success and seasons of failure. On this journey we meet many people who come and go, each with a purpose. The people in our lives either teach us, love us or follow us. But in any circumstance, they influence a course of change in us. How we allow that change to affect us determines the next step in our journey. Change is a good thing. If we never change then we will never grow- we would become stagnant or "stuck." How we perceive change in our lives and relationships and circumstances has everything to do with how we think, behave and feel. Sometimes on this journey, we need to renew our minds.
We need to begin again.
““We can choose to throw stones, to stumble on them, to climb over them, or to build with them.””
